To All CCUA Members:

As you all know by now, Governor Pritzker has suspended in school learning for the remainder of the school year.

The Illinois High School Association (IHSA) Board of Directors met for their April meeting via a video conference call on Tuesday, April 21, where the Board of Directors announced its decision to cancel all IHSA spring state tournaments. The decision to cancel the spring state tournaments comes in conjunction with Friday’s (April 17) announcement by Governor Pritzker and the Illinois State Board of Education that all Illinois high schools will complete the 2019-20 school term from home via e-learning.

“Once it is determined safe to return, we will provide a detailed outline to our schools on the plan for summer contact days and possibly some kind of spring athletic events,” said Anderson. “Including if the number of days and dates that coaches can meet with athletes has been altered.  At this point, though, all that is dependent upon state government and medical leaders giving the go ahead for such.”

While that is an unfortunate outcome to all of those involved in high school athletics, it is a necessary one - to keep everyone as safe as possible.

As a result of this unforeseen event, the CCUA board met and we have agreed to put your 2020 dues toward the 2021 season for all CCUA members.

Independent Contractors do have the ability to apply for a stimulus loan (grant) that does not have to be paid back to the government.  However, as of this past Friday, those funds ($350 billion) have already been allocated.  Fortunately, Congress and the President are about to agree to terms on a $500 billion aid package for small businesses. Once that bill passes and signed by Trump, that will allow additional applications for relief aid. For more information on the relief aid, go to: COVID-19 RELIEF AID.

Thank you for playing such an important role in IHSA sports, and please keep yourself and your family healthy and safe.

We look forward to seeing you on the field next season!

There are five Catholic League schools and 1 East Suburban School utilizing Arbiter Pay to pay officials this season.  Those schools are: Brother Rice, Fenwick, Mt. Carmel, St. Ignatius, St. Laurence and Notre Dame.  If you do not have an Arbiter Pay account, I would suggest you set one up.  It is very easy to do.  There are instructions on Arbiter...but I will also send out instructions in my next email to all of you.  If you have an Arbiter Pay account from the fall or winter season, you do not need to do anything...Also, the IHSA for the state playoff series will be paying officials via Arbiter Pay.  Just an FYI, Dan or myself will NOT be moving umpires to non Arbiter Pay schools...please do not ask us.!
